About this blog
My name is Victoria, and I am on a mission. I want to discover how recreational spaces stack up to the autistic profile. So I will be visiting all the Brown signs first from the south of England and then working my way up, or down, left or right, you get the idea, as long as I can, to find out how it might feel or be for a person on the spectrum and what to watch out for in these spaces. Not sure what a 'Brown sign' is, here you go.
I would also be grading these sites on my personal meter along the following sensory areas; visual, auditory, and looking out for ways that vestibular and proprioception are supported.
I am not diagnosed as Autistic, and I am not an expert on the matter, but I am learning, and I support my daughter, who is. We found it very hard to go anywhere, and where we did go, there was a lot I wished I had known to prepare better. But it hasn't always been bad; with a can-do attitude (who am I kidding), with your fingers, toes and everything else crossed, we had and are having some good, great times exploring the world around us, and we just wanted to share that with you.
